We Invite You to Visit One of the Strongest and Finest Forts of India

Welcome to our hotel, a haven of comfort and elegance since 1993. Established to offer well-maintained rooms for visitors to Gingee Fort, our hotel has always been a beloved retreat for travellers. Renovations in 2018 and 2024 have seamlessly blended modern aesthetics with timeless charm. Our airy, well-ventilated rooms promise a refreshing and serene stay.

Renowned for its architectural marvel and strategic brilliance, the fort earned the illustrious title “Troy of the East” from the British, while the valiant Maratha king Shivaji Maharaj proclaimed it the “Most Impregnable Fortress in India.” Built by the Kone dynasty and significantly fortified by the Nayaks and the legendary Shivaji Maharaj, the fort invites everyone to experience its grandeur and reflect on the rich tapestry of its past.

Despite being besieged by the Mughals, stripped by the French, and battered by the British, the fort still stands tall at an impressive 800 feet. Its monuments serve as enduring testaments to the glory of a bygone era, inspiring all who visit to appreciate the lessons of history and the spirit of perseverance.

Come and witness the splendour of Senji Fort, where every stone tells a story, and every visit is a journey into the heart of India’s remarkable heritage. Let it inspire you to embrace the strength and courage that define our shared human experience, reminding us that even in the face of adversity, we can rise and stand tall.

Father Nicholas Pimenta, one of the pioneering Jesuit travellers, hailed Gingee as the greatest city in India, a marvel that surpassed all but Lisbon in Portugal. In 1677, during the fervent rise of the Marathas, the legendary Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj embarked on a southern conquest, leading an impressive army of 30,000 cavalry and 40,000 infantry. His journey culminated in the capture of the formidable Vellore and Gingee forts, showcasing the indomitable spirit of valour that defined his reign.

The veteran missionary André Frier, in 1678, lauded Shivaji’s relentless dedication, noting that he poured every ounce of his energy and resources into fortifying his stronghold. He constructed new ramparts around Gingee, dug deep ditches, erected towering structures, and executed all work with a level of precision that would inspire awe even among European engineers.

We invite you to explore one of India's mightiest and most impregnable forts, Gingee Fort, a testament to the valour and vision of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Step into the pages of history where courage and resilience reign supreme, and witness the grandeur of a fort that stands as a beacon of strength. Your journey awaits, and the legacy of valor beckons!
